Developer Spotlight: Andrzej Zawadzki

At Raw Power Games, crafting deep, engaging systems for our upcoming game is no small feat. It takes sharp minds, relentless curiosity, and a genuine passion for the art of design. Meet Andy, our Senior Game Designer, who brings all that, and a lot more, to the table.
Whether he’s designing systems that feel intuitive and rewarding or balancing handcrafted experiences in a vast sandbox world, Andy is at the heart of the creative problem-solving that makes our game truly special. With an eye for elegant mechanics and a love for challenges that come without clear answers, Andy helps shape an experience players will love getting lost in.
So, what makes game design so exciting for him? How has remote work changed his day-to-day life? And what does work-life balance look like when you’re building something this ambitious? Let’s find out…

What is your title – and what do you do?
I’m a Senior Game Designer, working on systems and content for our upcoming medieval debut title.
What is your favorite part of working as a Game Designer?
It will probably sound like a cliche, but the problem-solving and the unexpectedness. Game Design is about delivering an interesting experience, a set of choices that excite players and make them engaged. These choices and these experiences are what determines whether the game is fun. However, the problem appears when some of these elements clash with each other. We then have to find solutions to these problems – sometimes it works like a charm, sometimes it generates more problems. The entire process of finding answers is extremely fun, because very often you don’t even know what you’ll find at the end of the road. The end result and the journey that leads there is remarkable and full of wonders. And that’s what I love the most.
What excites you most about the project you are working on?
It is a new type of game for me, I’ve never worked on a project like this before, so it’s a new set of challenges and I’m enjoying them very much. There are a lot of fun problems to solve. Due to its sandbox nature, the game is very systemic. Having to strike a balance between all those systems and their elements, while keeping the very hand-crafted and personal feeling to the game and the journey players go through is an exciting task.
What is it like working at Raw Power Games?
Amazing! I love it here. We have a strong team, an exciting project, we are full remote. I’m having fun and I’m enjoying every single second of my days :)
How will you describe the company culture?
I would say it’s open, mature and trustful. People are not afraid of speaking their mind, they are respectful of everyone’s time and schedules. We treat each other like adults and professionals. We all know and feel we have a shared, common goal and we are all working towards that in the way that fits both the team needs and the company needs.
How has it been working remotely with Raw Power Games?
Fantastic. People embraced it naturally and it works very smoothly now. We are putting an active effort into making the communication flow, to have all the information present and to make sure work is not disrupted. The autonomy the company grants us and the trust we’re being given is incredible and helps with that. I feel respected, I feel treated like an adult, I feel valued.
Are there challenges tied to it?
Absolutely, one of them being the feeling of isolation. But the camaraderie we established is helping lower the impact of it to minimum.
Also, the remote setup allows me to spend more time with my wife and kids, which makes me happier. And happier developers and better developers.
What does work-life balance look like for you, and how does the company support that?
It’s great! – The company is fully remote and does not have core hours which grants incredible flexibility. I’m a father of two, so time management is key. Sometimes you have to take a break during the day due to unforeseen circumstances, and the company understands that. The studio trusts its employees. The company knows that if people are trusted and valued, they will pay it back and deliver what’s required – it is respectful and empathetic towards all the developers and it is shown. We are given time, we are given space, we are not pressured. Raw Power Games truly understands that good games are made when you have happy people who feel valued and respected, give them time and resources and make sure our production is done in a healthy way.
